Remarks from Ampak Nigeria Limited
Throughout our operation, of nearly three decades we have always been at the forefront of advocating for environmental stewardship and sustainable interactions with environmental goods and services.
The impact of ecosystem depletion has social dimensions that threaten the fundamental needs and livelihoods of many, especially vulnerable communities that depend on resources that are already dwindling. At the heart of our business is the Sustainable Development Goals—so, when we think of ecosystem restoration, we also think in the line of social inclusion, and economic development that creates opportunities for growth and innovation, especially for the vibrant young population of Nigeria. Currently, at Ampak, the concept of the circular economy has been a talking point and means of engagement with not only established businesses but small-scale businesses in the informal sector. The principles of a circular economy perfectly adapt to the central goal of ecosystem restoration; sustainable consumption and production of goods and services, minimization of wastes generation, and pollution. Through this, we are inspiring innovations, creative design, and industrial symbiosis among different business value chains that are inclusive of small businesses and those in the lower class of the economy.
Irrespective of the sector that businesses and institutions of those represented here belong to, we are all stakeholders of the environment and we all can make a tangible and significant impact by making necessary adjustments to the way we treat nature’s goods and services. The WED event provides a platform for individuals, organizations, institutions, governments, etc to engage in conversations, innovations, and other creative ideas that preserve our planet. our message for every person and organization represented here today is that we re-examine our interactions with the environment, and make rightful changes that contribute to global efforts of restoring our planet to a functional and sustainable state.
Ampak Nigeria Limited is proud to be associated with the objectives and mission of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation and committed to extending our partnership for over three years. Particularly, we find the intended activities of tree planting in secondary schools laudable and well on course with the United Nations decade of restoration agenda.
