The Construction of “Deutsche Ostsee”, a LNG terminal in Lubmin, East Germany began on 20th September, 2022, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “This is the first floating LNG terminal in Germany that is being privately funded by a consortium of companies. Deutsche ReGas, the company leading the effort stated that the terminal will become operational by December 2022 and will be able to feed up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of LNG into the German Transmission network per year.

“Dr. Stephen Knabe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Deutsche ReGas stated that they are working on an expedited timeline and their multinational team of LNG experts has been working tirelessly on the project for months.
“The relatively small industrial port at Lubmin will be upgraded to receive larger vessels. The upgrades include creating a secure berth on the east quay.
“Lubmin is the terminus of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines from Russia. Deutsche ReGas noted that they will be able to take advantage of the existing LNG infrastructure and feed their imported LNG into the German Long Distance LNG transport network.

“The FSRU for the terminal will be provided by Total Energies. Plans for the future include connecting the FSRU to underwater pipelines and adding up to two more. FSRUs to the network. The two more FSRUs will scale the delivery of LNG to 15 billion cubic meters per year.”
