MARITIME ACCIDENT: How VLCC tanker was attacked by drones off Yemeni coast, Gulf of Aden

By Our Correspondent

News emerged that VLCC PRATIKA on November 21, 2022, was attacked by drones, air or surface not clear, off Al-Dhaba’s Ash Shihr Oil Terminal, Hadramout Governorate, Yemen, Gulf of Aden, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Details are sketchy. Understood tanker arrived from Singapore to load crude, lot to be delivered to the EU. Sana Forces (something opposite to Houthi) said they prohibit crude oil shipments from Governorates that aren’t under their control, so the tanker was duly warned.

“Reportedly tanker tried to load crude anyway, hence the alleged attack. The tanker was cruising off the Terminal since Nov 16, she left Yemeni waters after the attack and as of 1830 UTC Nov 21, was sailing south at slow speed. Understood tanker wasn’t damaged, or there’s no report yet on damages.”
