The National Chairman of of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON), Prince Dr. Mike Emuh has called on the general public and well meaning HOSCON members to disregard the campaign of calumny mounted against his person in a video which has gone viral insinuating that he imposed the state chapter chairman on the Akwa-Ibom State chapter.

Emuh described the allegations against him as a blatant lie calculated to send wrong signals to the general public, cause disaffection, and fan embers of disunity among the people of HOSCON.

He noted that this rogue faction fermenting commotion in Akwa-Ibom state, knows nothing about how HOSCON operates.
He said: “For the records, here are the facts: After the death of the former state Chairman, who hails from Ibeno Local Government Authority, an oil-producing area, an interim or acting chairman, who was his vice, was installed to oversee the affairs of the association in the state.

“Last month, June 2021 specifically, the state executive came to our head office in Warri, saying that it is high time they elected their state executive, and it was agreed amongst them, including the acting chairman, that a new state chairman for Akwa-Ibom state should emerge in order to join other states in project management. Everyone knew that positions in HOSCON are measured or determined by the level of production quantum from a given area.
“They further agreed to appoint a new chairman from Ibeno LGA, as the late chairman was from there but could not complete his tenure before he died.

“Typical to HOSCON tradition, I being the national chairman was thus invited to inaugurate the new state exco as elected. I have no business imposing anybody whatsoever. Above all, I urge the state chapter to stop this internal wranglings and beware of detractors who are wont to infiltrate them to cause division and eventual implosion in the state chapter.
“All I did was to find a lasting solution to the crisis in the state Chapter and inaugurate the State executives in Akwa-Ibom State.”

Emuh further stated that the protest in Akwa-Ibom state against his person was masterminded by the aggrieved faction in the state executive.

He described the protest and allegations as a defamation and assassination of character, calculated to spread misinformation, cause confusion and tarnish his good image.

“I therefore ask the general public to disregard such protest and continue to believe in the good works of Dr. Emuh, the National Chairman of Host Community of Nigeria, Producing Oil and Gas, HOSCON,” he appealed.
