The international cruise industry has concluded plans to restart operations after a 16-month break, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The government has announced that fully vaccinated passengers from amber list countries will not be quarantined upon arrival in England. However, passengers will be required to take a pre-departure test as well as a PCR test on the second day of their arrival.
“An industry body said that hotels, port operators, tour guides, and other firms involved would be benefiting from this restart of international cruises. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has said that they will be amending the International Cruise advice to encourage travelers to understand the risks associated with cruises and take personal responsibility for their safety.
“Richard Ballantyne, Chief Executive at the British Ports Association expressed his joy over the UK government’s announcement. He said that the successful restart of domestic cruise has demonstrated the ability of ports, government, health officials, and cruise lines to work together and ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and destination on priority. He expressed his optimism and said that international cruise will be following similar success as that of domestic cruise restarting.”
It added: “The UK government has laid a different set of rules for passengers arriving from France. The rule states that travelers who have been to France 10 days before their arrival in England, need to undergo a 10 days’ quarantine upon arrival. Even if the traveler is fully vaccinated he/she will be required to take the Covid test on or before day two of arrival and again after 8 days of arrival. The British Ports Association has expressed its disappointment over the UK government’s quarantine rule for passengers from France.”
