Porto Central Gets a Green Ammonia Facility
Porto Central, the new deepwater port of Brazil is going to get a green ammonia production facility from AmmPower Corporation, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The Canadian company announced plans to develop a green ammonia production facility which will be a storage and distribution center for providing energy solutions in Brazil and internationally.”
Dr. Gary Benninger, CEO of AmmPower has said that it is an incredible move made by the company towards creating one of the leading clean energy ports in the world.
He said that AmmPower’s ammonia facility would be used to supply green hydrogen and ammonia as a fuel for large ships as well as for small tug boats and other machines on the site. This facility will present a huge opportunity by providing clean power to the national grids of Brazil and also producing clean fertilizer for the large population of the country.
It also stated: “Porto Central is currently in development and has a multipurpose industrial port complex. It will have access to railways, highways, and other infrastructure located in the State of Espirito Santo, near the border with Rio de Janeiro. The port will be accommodating different types of terminals and industries including energy generation, mining, agriculture, general cargo, container, oil and gas, and offshore support industries.
“AmmPower will be supplying ammonia for uses such as movement of hydrogen, energy infrastructure, and fertilizer industry of Brazil. The project is aimed at developing self-sufficiency in the agricultural space for Brazil as currently, the country imports 90% of its fertilizers.
“Porto Central is going to be one of the biggest ports of Brazil offering 82 feet draft and the capacity to handle ships of all types of cargo ranging from crude and gas, fertilizer, grain, ores, containers, and general cargo. The Ports’ potential has been estimated to be 220 million tons of cargo handling per year.”
