MARITIME: VLCC interrupted voyage to medevac sick crew in South China Sea

VLCC C FREEDOM interrupted her voyage from Korea to Singapore on April 1, 2023, in South China Sea, and called Nha Trang anchorage, Vietnam, to transfer to hospital sick Third Officer of Filipino nationality, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Vietnamese MRCC on Apr 1 received distress message requesting medical assistance for crew member suffering from abdominal pain, headache and cough. It was decided to medevac sick seaman in waters off Nha Trang.
“C FREEDOM reached Nha Trang anchorage at around 2200 LT Apr 1, understood she didn’t anchor, and resumed voyage in about an hour and a half, after Third Officer was disembarked. His condition is said to be stable.”
