MARITIME: Stena and Oljola Join Hands for a Dedicated Methanol Bunker Vessel

Stena Oil, Stena Tejnik and OljOla Shipping are collaborating to construct a 2000 dwt chemical tanker in Turkey, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “It is designed to be one of the first vessels dedicated to methanol bunkering and is targeted to meet demands in the Northern European region.
“OljOla is the owner and is responsible for the full technical management of the project. Stena Oil is the commercial operator and Stena Tejnik will take on the responsibility of new building and management.
“The vessel is being designed by Kuzey and the shipbuilding process itself is being carried out by GENKA shipbuilding in Tuzla, Turkey. The ship will be designed to carry chemicals as per the IMO Type II standard, these chemicals include fuels such as methanol, biofuels, etc.
“The ship will have a cargo capacity of 2100 m3. The cargo will be stored in coated cargo tanks. There are a total of 10 cargo tanks and two slop tanks.”
It added: “This new vessel will be the fourth member of Stena Oil and OljOla’s bunker fleet and will be designed with sustainability in mind. It will be equipped with two main engines and three diesel generators. All of these engines are equipped with SCRs to achieve Tier III compliance.”
