A fire erupted in the superstructure of product tanker LU DAO YOU 3 in the morning of March 30, 2023, some 20 nm east of Quanzhou, China, Taiwan Strait, according to FleetMon.

“Fire erupted in the superstructure of product tanker LU DAO YOU 3 in the morning Mar 30 some 20 nm east of Quanzhou, China, Taiwan Strait. Most probably, the fire started in the engine room and spread further, engulfing most of the superstructure, with a lot of thick smoke.
“SAR ships, fire boats, and patrol ships responded, as well as ships nearby. Fifteen 15 crew were rescued by the fishing vessel, and all are safe. Firefighting started, and by April 1, 2023 fire was extinguished and the hull was cooled enough, to board and check the tanker condition.
“She was found stable; she’s to be offloaded, probably by STS operation. Tanker remained anchored, AIS off since March 30, 2023.”
