A Communications with landing craft BATIWAKKAL PERMAI with 11 crew on board, were lost on April 3, 2023 in Celebes Sea in Sitaro Islands Regency waters, North Sulawesi, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Communications with landing craft BATIWAKKAL PERMAI with 11 crew on board, were lost on Apr 3 in Celebes sea in Sitaro Islands Regency waters, North Sulawesi. The ship left Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Apr 1, carrying 1 excavator and 4 trucks.

“In the morning Apr 8 fishing vessel MENTARI 888 found rubber boat with 9 people in it, members of LCT crew, off Morotai Island, North Maluku. 2 crew are missing.

“According to rescued seamen statements, LCT was caught in rough weather, suffered massive water ingress, and sank. Rubber boat crew went into drifted some 160 nm in 5 days before it was spotted by fishing vessel.”
