MARITIME ACCIDENT: Jack-up rig capsizes, sinks off Kalimantan in South China sea
Malaysian offshore rig NAGA-7 sinks after punch-through incident while operating for ConocoPhillips, on May 4, 2021, in offshore Sarawak waters, northern Kalimantan, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The Company confirms that the jack-up is submerged following the incident while setting up on a well location.”
It also added: “Understood one of the legs of three-legged platform broke through hard seafloor into mud below, rig, as a result, capsized and sank. All 101 personnel on board reportedly managed to evacuate into 3 lifeboats, and are safe.”
