A Bulk carrier MARITSA has collided with bulk carrier JOY at Westhinder Anchorage, Ostend, Belgium, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Bulk carrier MARITSA collided with bulk carrier JOY at Westhinder Anchorage, Ostend, Belgium, at around 1230 UTC August 17, 2022.

“According to ships’ tracks, JOY was anchored at the time of collision, while MARITSA was under way after she heaved anchor and proceeded to destination port Ghent, on arrival from Constanta. Both ships sustained some damages including damaged or destroyed lifeboat, but in all, damages are said to be minor.

“MARITSA was brought to anchor near collision site, resumed sailing to Ghent at around 0030 UTC Aug 19. At 0645 UTC Aug 19 was already in Westbuitenhaven, Terneuzen, assisted by 3 tugs.”
