No An unidentified Capesize bulk carrier suffered engine failure early in the morning August 6, 2022 in Gulf of Tonkin, some 120 nm west of southwestern Hainan, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Unidentified Capesize bulk carrier suffered engine failure early in the morning Aug 6 in Gulf of Tonkin, some 120 nm west of southwestern Hainan, at the time when tropical storm was approaching the area. Chinese SAR ship NAN HAI JIU 116 (IMO 9607485), stationed at that time at Sanya Hainan, responded, and took disabled bulk carrier on tow later that day.
“Bulk carrier was towed to Shenzhen (Hong Kong) waters, arriving there on Aug 12. She was berthed in the afternoon August 12.
“Inside sources identified the ship as Taiwanese bulk carrier FPMC B 102, track and dates confirm their information. She was sailing from anchorage in Vietnam waters to Hong Kong – Nansha at the time of breakdown, understood her voyage initially started in Australia.”
