HBSAN to Drive Oil, Gas and Power Integration at October Energy Conference

 

The Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria (HBSAN) will host its flagship Oil & Gas Event on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

With the theme, “One Energy System: Integrating Oil, Gas, and Power for National Transformation,” the conference will bring together senior government officials, industry leaders, regulators and financiers to examine how Nigeria can move from fragmented sector operations to a more coordinated energy economy.

The conference will focus on how Nigeria can maximise the economic value of its energy resources through stronger coordination among the oil, gas and power sectors. Discussions will centre on governance, policy alignment, infrastructure financing and operational efficiency, with the outcomes to be captured in a white paper to support government implementation.

HBSAN President, Mr. Collins Onuegbu, will open the conference, followed by a keynote address by Engr. Adeleye Falade, FNSE, Managing Director of NLNG, titled “From Resource to Prosperity: Unlocking National Growth through Integrated Energy Systems – Oil, Gas and Power: The African Perspective.”

The programme features four sessions:

Governance, Policy and Regulatory Convergence: Moderated by Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, Chairman, Board of Trustees, HBSAN, the panel will examine regulatory coordination across the energy sectors. Speakers include Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, CCE, NUPRC; Hon. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Federal Minister of Power; Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); Mr. Bayo Ojulari, MD, NNPCL; Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, ACE, NMDPRA; and Mr. Osa Igiehon, MD, Heirs Energy.

Infrastructure and Finance: Led by Prof. Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Harvard Professor and BOT Member, HBSAN, the panel will examine project bankability and capital mobilisation to address Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit.

Panelists include Mr. Jim Swartz, MD, Chevron Nigeria; Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, MD/CEO, FirstBank; Mr. Gbite Falade, Chairman, IPPG and MD/CEO, Aradel Holdings Plc; Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); Mr. Dele Kuti, Global Head, Energy & Infrastructure, Standard Bank Group; Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, MD/CEO, Fidelity Bank Plc; and Mr. Oscar Onyema, OON, Chairman, JEX Markets.

Industry Fireside Chat: Moderated by Prof. Prisca Ndu, the discussion will feature Dr. Layi Fatona, Chairman, ND Western and Renaissance Energy, who will share practical approaches to improving efficiency across power and hydrocarbon supply chains.

Case Study – From Explorer to Owner: Dr. Austin Avuru, Chairman, AA Holdings, will discuss his entrepreneurial journey from Seplat to AA Holdings and draw lessons on building and scaling resilient, homegrown energy companies in Africa.

The conference will conclude with remarks by Dr. Mayowa Afe, Chairman of the HBSAN Energy Conference, who will present the key outcomes of the discussions.
