MARITIME ACCIDENT: General cargo ship collided with wind turbine in North Sea

A General cargo ship PETRA L collided with a wind turbine at Godewind wind farm, NW of Norderney, Germany, North Sea, at around 1800 UTC on April 24, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “General cargo ship PETRA L collided with a wind turbine at Godewind wind farm, NW of Norderney, Germany, North Sea, at around 1800 UTC April 24, 2023, while en route from Poland to Merksem Belgium, with 1,500 tons of grain on board.

“Captain didn’t report the accident to authorities, but the ship interrupted her voyage and called Emden, where she was berthed in the morning Apr 25, with fore hull 1-meter breach. Remained berthed as of April 26, 2023. Wind turbine blades or blades suffered damages, too, hopefully, heavy ones.”
