A Container ship JAOHAR RIMA suffered a mechanical failure late August 26, 2021, in the Aegean Sea north of Kythnos island, Greece, while en route from Algeria, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Container ship JAOHAR RIMA suffered mechanical failure late Aug 26 in the Aegean Sea north of Kythnos island, Greece, while en route from Algeria to Mariupol, Ukraine, Azov sea.

“The ship started to drift and as of 1410 UTC Aug 27 she was about 1.3 nm NE of the northernmost tip of Kythnos, with CG and tanker on standby nearby, ready to prevent the ship’s drift towards the island’s coast. The tug is reported to be underway to taken disabled ship on tow.”
