EFCC UPDATE: President Tinubu names Mohammed Umar Acting Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Umar as the Acting Chairman, of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Umar, who was the Director of Operations in the Commission, has been directed to take over the affairs of the commission.
Already, President Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension from the office of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, CON, as the Chairman of the EFCC.
In a statement obtained by The Daily, www.thedaily-ng.com, Willie Bassey, Director, Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated: “This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office leveled against him.
“Mr. Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, of Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”
