The Daily Africa Summit is set to start, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 10 am, with Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, an Ogoni-born environmental Justice Activist, Human Rights Defender and Executive Director of Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC), as Guest Speaker. Fyneface will be speaking on, ‘Issues, Problems & Prospects of Producing Oil, Gas in Ogoniland’.
In his pre-event comment, Fyneface, said: “There have been mixed reactions from the Ogoni people over plans by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC to start commercial production in Ogoniland. The people are speaking in different voices. While some are of the opinion that oil production should start in order to create jobs for the youths, others, including I, as an Ogoni activist are not in support of oil resumption because the issues that led to the discontinuation of oil production in the area have not been fully addressed or resolved.”
