JUST IN: Strange death occurs of sign-on seaman in Spain

A tragic accident occurred early in the morning May 4 in Algeciras waters, Spain, during crew change operation, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “ Suezmax tanker BORDEIRA was about to set sail after completing MB cargo operation, when sign-on seaman slipped from the ladder during boarding, and fell in the water.

“He was quickly picked up from the water and transported to hospital, sustaining a broken arm and with symptoms of hypothermia, but otherwise, displaying no life-threatening symptoms.

“He died shortly after he was transferred to hospital, the exact cause of death unknown. A strange death of a man who apparently, didn’t suffer any serious, life-threatening injures.”
