MARITIME ACCIDENT: How Ferry STENA SCANDICA catches fire in Baltic Sea

A fire has erupted on car deck of ferry STENA SCANDICA at around 1240 LT (UTC +2) August 29, 2022 in Baltic Sea SW of Gotska Sandon Island, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Fire erupted on car deck of ferry STENA SCANDICA at around 1240 LT (UTC +2) Aug 29, in Baltic Sea SW of Gotska Sandon island. Ferry with some 300 people on board and vehicles, is en route from Stockholm to Ventspils Latvia, she stopped and went adrift shortly after fire started. “Fire reportedly, was extinguished by the crew, car (car tyres) caught fire, with a lot of smoke, so main problem probably, was smoke, not fire itself.” It added: “According to track, ferry was under way again since 1340 LT (or under tow), moving due south at a reduced speed, surrounded by SAR tugs and boats.”
