JUST IN: Again, households, investors experience setback as power system collapse
By Eyo Nsima
Again, many households and companies in Nigeria have been thrown into darkness following another system collapse, apparently the sixth in 2022.
Checks by The Daily, www.thedaily-ng.com, showed that as of 4 pm, only Omoku (45.5MW) and Trans-Amadi (33.40MW) were on the grid as it began a gradual recovery process.
Consequently, many Electricity Distribution Companies, DisCos, have apologized to their consumers, explaining that the situation was beyond their control.
For instance, in its statement, Eko DISCO stated: “We regret to inform you of a system collapse on the National grid at precisely 11:27 am today, Wednesday, July 20th. We are in talks with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ascertain the cause of the collapse and a possible restoration timeline.”
