Perenco to Highlight Africa-Wide Oil, Gas Expansion at AEW 2026
Independent energy company Perenco will showcase its expanding investments across Africa’s upstream oil and gas sector at the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, underscoring the growing role of indigenous and independent operators in strengthening the continent’s energy security and industrial development.
Perenco has confirmed its participation as a Gold Partner at AEW 2026, scheduled to hold in Cape Town, South Africa, from October 12 to 16, where it will present its strategy for expanding exploration, production, gas monetisation and local content development across Africa.
The company’s growing footprint spans several African countries, including Egypt, Cameroon, the Republic of Congo, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Gabon, reflecting increasing investment in unlocking the continent’s vast hydrocarbon resources.
In Egypt, Perenco recently secured regulatory approval for an exploration contract covering the Al-Fayrouz onshore basin, supporting the country’s efforts to boost domestic oil and gas production and consolidate its position as a regional energy hub.
In Cameroon, the company has partnered with Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH) to redirect natural gas from the Sanaga South and Ebome fields from exports to the domestic market.
The initiative is expected to support the country’s target of expanding electricity access to eight million households and increasing clean cooking adoption to 40 per cent by 2030.
The Republic of Congo remains one of Perenco’s fastest-growing markets. The company completed a five-well drilling campaign at the Tchibouela East field in May 2026, adding about 6,000 barrels per day to production.
Earlier in the year, it commissioned the $200 million Kombi 2 platform, which will support Congo’s ambition to raise crude oil output to 500,000 barrels per day by 2030.
Perenco is also advancing hydrocarbon development in Chad through a 12-well drilling programme at the Badila Field, while in the DRC it recently recorded the country’s first offshore oil discovery in almost three decades.
Beyond production growth, the company continues to invest in Africa’s human capital. In Cameroon, Perenco partnered with UCAC-ICAM Institute to establish an Industry 4.0 laboratory, equipping students with advanced digital, automation and smart production technologies needed for the continent’s evolving energy industry.
Commenting on the company’s growing African portfolio, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, NJ Ayuk, said independent operators would play a crucial role in unlocking the continent’s energy potential.

With Africa estimated to hold 125.3 billion barrels of crude oil and 620 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, Perenco’s investments highlight the continent’s drive to increase production, improve energy access, create jobs and accelerate industrialisation through responsible resource development.
At AEW 2026, company executives are expected to provide updates on ongoing exploration and production projects while engaging policymakers, investors and industry leaders on strategies for sustaining Africa’s upstream growth.
