NEPAD Business Group Nigeria to Host Webinar on Resilience, Sustainable Prosperity Amid Global Challenges
NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (NBGN) has concluded plans to host a high-level webinar aimed at equipping businesses, professionals and policymakers with practical strategies for navigating growing global economic uncertainties.
The virtual event, scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (local time), is themed “Global Challenges: Survival Strategies, Building Resilience and Driving Sustainable Prosperity.”
According to the organisers, the webinar will bring together leading economists and development experts to provide practical insights on how individuals, businesses and institutions can adapt to economic volatility, strengthen resilience and achieve sustainable growth in an increasingly complex global environment.
NBGN urged prospective participants to register early and extend the invitation to colleagues and members of their professional networks to encourage broad participation.
The webinar will feature Prof. Ken Ike, London Enterprise Ambassador and Chief Strategist at the ECOWAS Commission, as the guest speaker.
Other speakers include Prof. Abimbola Oyinlola, Chief Economist at the Bank of Industry, who will serve as moderator, while Prof. Gafar Tunde Ijaiya, Professor of Development Economics at the University of Ilorin, and Dr. Ibilola Amao, Principal Consultant at Lonadek Global Services, will participate as discussants.
NBGN explained that the webinar forms part of its broader efforts to promote stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors in addressing Africa’s economic and development challenges.
The NEPAD Business Group is a coalition of business associations and private sector organisations established to mainstream African businesses into the NEPAD agenda while encouraging active private sector participation in implementing the continent’s development priorities.
Since its inception, the organisation has focused on fostering productive public-private partnerships, mobilising domestic and international investments, and supporting initiatives that advance sustainable economic development across Nigeria and Africa.
As a leading promoter of NEPAD programmes in Nigeria, NBGN facilitates investment and trade opportunities for local businesses while partnering with private sector organisations and non-profit institutions to implement sustainable development projects across the continent.
The origins of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) date back to the 2000 Millennium Summit, where the then United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, called for a stronger global commitment to achieving “the twin goals of freedom from want and freedom from fear.”
In response, the African Union established NEPAD in 2001 as a continental framework to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration aimed at tackling Africa’s security challenges, promoting political stability and accelerating socioeconomic development.
The NEPAD Business Group was subsequently launched in 2002 under the leadership of the Africa Business Roundtable to strengthen partnerships between governments and the private sector.
Over the years, the organisation has supported numerous business development initiatives, created investment opportunities, empowered young Africans with entrepreneurial and vocational skills, and delivered projects that have benefited businesses and communities across the continent.
