MSC unfolds plan for the new mega cruise terminal at port Miami
MSC Cruises have announced their partnership with Italian Shipbuilder Fincantieri, targeted at building a new state-of-the-art Cruise Terminal at Port Miami.
According to FleetMon, “Once completed, this $414 million mega terminal will be serving as many as the latest three-generation ships and will handle up to 36,000 passengers per day. Apart from passenger services, it will also have office areas, multilevel car parking for 2400 vehicles, and a new connection road.
“As per the construction contract, Fincantieri and MSC will be constructing two new docks measuring a total of 750m whereas Miami-Dade County will develop the third berth. Designed by the award-winning architecture firm, Arquitectonica, the new MSC terminal will be completed by December 2023.
“Guiseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri said that Miami is the center of world cruise tourism therefore it is the perfect showcase to host this magnificent cruise terminal, which will be a representative of the best of made in Italy.
“Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises said that their new terminal will become a landmark of style in Miami and showcase the company’s commitment to invest in the local market. He further said that they will be deploying some of their best and environmentally high-performing ships in the region.
“Port Miami is attracting investment from other major cruise lines as well. Recently Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean completed their new cruise terminals whereas Carnival Cruise Line has its expansion and up-gradation work going on at its terminal. Virgin Cruise Lines is also in the middle of completing its new terminal at the world’s busiest cruise port.”
