MARITIME: Korean tanker and Chinese bulk carrier collided at Busan Anchorage

Korean tanker 103 DONG SUNG has collided with Chinese bulk carrier KUAI BANG HAI 18 at around 0930 Seoul time August 11, 2022 at Busan outer anchorage, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Korean tanker 103 DONG SUNG collided with Chinese bulk carrier KUAI BANG HAI 18 at around 0930 Seoul time Aug 11 at Busan outer anchorage, probably during tanker approach. Understood tanker was to bunker bulk carrier, but the ship went out of control and struck anchored KUAI BANG HAI 18.

“Bulk carrier suffered hull breach in ballast tank area 2 meters above waterline, with ensuing ballast water leak. KUAI BANG HAI 18 moved to inner Busan anchorage in the afternoon, tanker sailed to Ulsan.”
