A drilling rig BLACKFORD DOLPHIN, operating in Bay of Campeche offshore fields, Mexico, Gulf of Mexico, was boarded and looted in the Gulf of Mexico, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Drilling semi-submersible rig BLACKFORD DOLPHIN, operating in Bay of Campeche offshore fields, Mexico, Gulf of Mexico, was boarded and looted by 10 armed persons at night August 7, 2022.

“Perpetrators tied up 10 people and intimidated others, they stole some 30 Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), communication equipment and other valuables, and fled. They weren’t intercepted and nobody was arrested, to no one’s surprise.

“All robberies of oil platforms in Gulf of Mexico have one thing in common – their main target is always Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Why? Is it an expensive stuff to be sold on black market, or is it something else? “
