A longshoreman lost his life due to a container handling accident at Port Everglades in Florida. The victim has been identified as Odely Joseph, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “He was 51 years of age and was a resident of Fort Lauderdale.
“The accident occurred aboard the small boxship feeder vessel, “Hohebank”. The vessel was at the Port Everglades at the time of the accident. Paramedics arrived at scene and after evaluating the victim, they declared the man dead on the site. Deputies of the sheriff’s office collected the testimonies of eyewitnesses, who stated that they saw the man getting hit by a shipping container.
“The Broward medical examiner’s office has concluded that the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head. However, the circumstances of the accident are being further investigated by the homicide detectives of the Sheriff’s office along with officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

“The Hohebank is a container feeder ship registered in Antigua. The vessel has departed the Port Everglades and has returned to its itinerary in the Caribbean.”
