MARITIME ACCIDENT: US Navy transport ship aground in Persian Gulf

A United States Navy transport ship that ran aground in the Persian Gulf has been refloated, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Was refloated at around 0040 UTC Jul 16, taken to nearby Khalifa Bin Salman Port anchorage, anchored. Remained anchored as of 0330 UTC.”

It also disclosed that, “Supply transport of the US Navy USNS ALAN SHEPARD understood to run aground in the Persian Gulf off Bahrain at around 1515 UTC Jul 15, shortly after the ship left Khalifa Bin Salman Port, Bahrain.

“Tug SVITZER PELLA understood working on her. Information not yet confirmed or rebutted, situation developing.

“USNS ALAN SHEPARD (T-AKE-3) dry cargo ship, United States Navy, IMO 9284350, displacement 40298, commissioned 2007, complement 49 Navy, 123 civilians, armament guns.”
