A fire erupted in the cargo hold of bulk carrier CAPE TOWN EAGLE at around 1000 Seoul time on May 30, 2023, in Ulsan Port, Korea, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Bulk carrier is having a cargo of 5,700 tons of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) substance, which is used in plastic production, and somehow, this PTA cargo caught fire.
“By 1430 Seoul time fire was still on, notwithstanding efforts of many firefighters and fire engines. Firefighters are pouring onto the fire and hold or hold, large amounts of water. No injuries reported.”
