A 44-meter motor yacht ARIA SF has caught fire and engulfed in flames at marina anchorage, Formentera Island, Balearic Islands, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “44-meter motor yacht ARIA SF caught fire and was soon engulfed in flames at marina anchorage, Formentera Island, Balearic Islands, Med, on August 11. 9 guests and 7 crew were rescued by Spanish SAR boats, Spanish Salvamento Maritimo was fighting fire. If it’s extinguished and yacht remains afloat, she’s to be towed to Ibiza. Last AIS signal received at 1600 UTC August 11.

“What’s up with big motor yachts, so-called “mega” or “super” yachts? Hardly a day passes without accidents/disasters reports. I’m trying to follow accidents with yachts of 30+ meters, can’t embrace all accidents including yachts less than 25 meters long.

“On August 10 20-meter long Italian motor yacht CLEO sank in Unije, Croatia, 4 people on board escaped.”
