MARITIME ACCIDENT: How Ferry sunk assisting tug in Taiwan

A Ferry NEW TAIMA collided with assisting tug TIMP NO.13302 while leaving Fuao Port, Matsu Islands in Taiwan, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Ferry NEW TAIMA collided with assisting tug TIMP NO.13302 while leaving Fuao port, Matsu islands, Taiwan, at around 1000 LT Aug 25.

“Tug aft hull was breached, the engine room was flooded, and tug sank, in about half an hour after the collision. Five crew are safe.

“Ferry departure was delayed, but finally, she left at around 1330 LT, reaching Keelung Taiwan, in the evening of August 25.”
