MARITIME ACCIDENT: Ferry capsized, sank along the pier, rescuers trying to find trapped inside in Indonesia
Ferry KMP BILI capsized and sank alongside the pier at Perigi Piai Jetty, north of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, in the afternoon Feb 20. Rescuers are trying to find out if there are any people, crew, and passengers, trapped inside the capsized vessels, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Ferry most likely, lost stability and capsized due to faulty ballasting and cargo (vehicles) positioning on the cargo deck.”
It also added: “Passenger ro-ro ship KMP BILI, IMO 8994556, GT 247, built 1990, flag Indonesia.”
