LCCI inducts new members, harps on integrity

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has charged the 46 organizations newly inducted to cherish tradition of high ethical standards, innovation, continuous improvement, integrity, and good corporate governance in business practice.

Dr Asiwaju Michael Olawale-Cole, President / Chairman of Council Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated this during the induction ceremony of 46 business organization, recently in Lagos.

He said: “As we formally induct your company into the Lagos Chamber’s
family today, I wish to emphasise the commitment of the Lagos Chamber to the cherished tradition of high ethical standards, innovation, continuous improvement, integrity, and good corporate governance in business practice.

As business owners and managers, though your primary obligation is to maximise profit, I charge you to pay adequate attention to the integrity of your business transactions and practices, environment, climate actions and social sustainability. I, therefore, enjoin you all to be committed to the core principles of high ethical standards, global best practices, and responsible corporate citizenships.
Indeed, the Chamber has a code of business ethics to which all
members are to subscribe.

The Lagos Chamber has been reinforced to continue to consistently provide services that meet the needs and expectations of our valued customers and esteemed stakeholders to catalyse private enterprises and organisations to achieve full potentials in terms of sustainable growth and global competitiveness”. The president said.

Sir Ladi Smith Vice President and Chairman, Membership and Welfare Committee while highlighting the potential benefits LCCI said, “Access to useful and accurate business information essential for
business planning and strategy, Credibility and trust in international business circles towards
consummating collaborative partnerships and joint ventures for mutual benefit. Advocacy on issues that directly and indirectly impact upon your businesses. You will no longer be voiceless but will gain strong access and capacity to bring your own inputs to bear upon important state and national economic policy formulation matters owing to your membership status. Chamber intervention on your organisations’ behalf with relevant organs of government (where necessary) at federal and subnational levels. Opportunity for your organisation‘s brand visibility to gain real traction and enhancement through sector specific exhibitions, trade shows and trade fairs both locally and internationally.
Global business opportunities and partnerships through participation
in both outbound and inbound trade missions. Access to robust Chamber business advisory services.
Access to discounted but high-quality training and business
development services through our Chamber. Provision of business documentation services. Business networking opportunities both locally and internationally, among others”. He said.

The goal of LCCI is to promote and protect the interest of its members and the business community at large through public policy advocacy, creation and facilitation of commercial and industrial opportunities, provision of business development service and observance of highest standard of business ethics.
