By Eyo Nsima
This is targeted at ensuring that its customers, most of whom have no meters are duly metered to enhance the supply of electricity and revenue collection in the next five years.
The 65,000 per year will cost the electricity company N6.25 billion yearly, according to the latest Order released by NERC.
The Commission stated: “In addition to other sector-led end-user metering initiatives in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, NESI, this Order has considered KEDCo’s proposed end-user customer meter rollout programme to eliminate estimated billing within the next five years.
“Over the tariff review period, KEDCo is mandated to install a minimum of 65,000 meters annually over five years towards phasing out the use of estimated billing methodologies in its network.”
Checks by The Daily, www.thedaily-ng.com, indicated that Dr. Unar Abubakar Hashidu, the Chief Executive Officer of Kaduna Electric remains committed to the metering project in particular and transforming the company in general.
