General cargo ship KORMORAN has suffered engine failure while proceeding downstream in Danube River, Sulina Canal, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “General cargo ship KORMORAN suffered engine failure while proceeding downstream in Danube river, Sulina Canal, en route from Reni Ukraine to Tripoli Lebanon, loaded with 5524 tons of wheat.

“The ship went out of control and ran onto bank in Tulcea area, Romania, contacting three berthed leisure catamarans. KORMORAN was refloated and towed to Sulina port.

“She resumed sailing later same day and as of 1430 UTC Sep 15, was approaching Black sea. Catamarans sustained damages, canal traffic were blocked for abound 2 hours.”
