ELECTRICITY: Nigeria’s generation drops 37% to 2,649.9MW

By Our Correspondent

Electricity generation in Nigeria remained low at 2,649.9 megawatts, MW, grossly inadequate considering the nation’s over 200 million population.

The generation dropped by 37 per cent to 2,649.9 megawatts, MW on Wednesday, this week, from 4,207.05 MW recorded the previous day.

Checks by The Daily, www.thedaily-ng.com, showed that the development was caused by a combination of factors, especially because about three generating plants were off the grid because of one problem or another.

One of the two lines supplying Mando Station from Kainji, it was gathered also broke down while efforts targeted at restoration were delayed by insecurity.
