Coaster fell victim to typhoon passing Taiwan Strait
General cargo ship SAM BO II was pushed on the breakwater of Budai Port, Chiayi County, western Taiwan, in the afternoon July 5, while leaving port, failing to hold on against strong wind and swell brought by LUPIT typhoon, according to FleetMon.
It stated; “ 9 crew were evacuated by mobile crane with basket, all are safe. Ship’s hull was breached, she sank alongside breakwater.
“The ship was connecting Budai, mainland Taiwan, with Penghu Islands, Taiwan Strait, at the time of disaster she was loaded with 35 containers and other cargo.”
