Bulk carrier KAPETAN SIDERIS suffered mechanical failure in Alboran sea south of Marbella, Spain, at around 0000 UTC Feb 27, 2021, while en route from Almeria to Las Palmas, Spain, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Owner contracted a tug to tow disabled ship to probably, Gibraltar, understood offshore supply tug JARVIS (IMO 9197301), but JARVIS also suffered mechanical breakdown, understood during towage, and both ships drifted into waters off Torreguadiaro, north of Gibraltar.”

It added: “As of 1400 UTC Feb 28, both ships seem to be still adrift, with Spanish SAR tug LUZ DE MAR (IMO 9320104) standing by.”
