MARITIME ACCIDENT: 1 crew died, 3 injured after being hit by North Atlantic storm
Bulk carrier GIULIA I left Norfolk Virginia, on Jan 26, bound for Tunisia Bizerte, ETA Feb 9, but had to interrupt her voyage on Jan 30 and head for Halifax, Nova Scotia, after a tragic accident, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The ship was caught in rough weather, 1 crew was killed and 3 were injured. Reportedly, “they were hit by a high wave”, so understood, they have been working on the outer deck, and smashed by a wave. GIULIA I reached Halifax on Feb 1. All crew is said to be of Filipino nationality.”
