Container ship collided with tug and oil barge, 3 crew missing, barge leaking palm oil

Container ship TANTO BERSINAR collided with tug MITRA JAYA XIX towing oil barge, loaded with palm oil, at around 0315 WIB (UTC +7) Jan 23, off Gresik port in outer anchorage area, Java sea, Surabaya, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Understood tug with 8 crew sank, 3 crew were rescued, 5 remain missing. Barge was heavily damaged, developed list, and is leaking her cargo.”

It added: “TANTO BERSINAR sustained slight damages, returned to Gresik and was anchored at inner port’s anchorage.”
