With a lot of effort, the cruise operations were started but it seems like covid-19 continues to possess challenges to the cruise industry, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Despite making efforts to create a bubble environment onboard cruise vessels, there are cases of passengers testing positive for coronavirus onboard.
“There are reports of passengers testing positive on two different cruise vessels operating in two different parts of the world. Celebrity Cruises of the Royal Caribbean Group reported a case where on a routine checkup two passengers onboard CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM tested positive for Covid-19. In another incident, MSC Cruises confirmed that on their vessel MSC SEASIDE sailing in the Mediterranean two passengers tested positive.
“Royal Caribbean has informed that both the infected passengers were sharing a cabin and are asymptomatic. They further added that the infected passengers were under the supervision of an expanded medical team abroad. CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM made a celebrated return to service, as it was the first large cruise ship to sail in the western hemisphere post-covid-19 restrictions. Royal Caribbean took all the necessary precautions and resumed services of “CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM” with a reduced capacity of 600 passengers only, who were to be serviced by 600 crew. Strict protocols were followed, including the mandatory requirement for all passengers and crew to be completely vaccinated against covid-19. Passengers were also required to take the COVID-19 test within 72 hours before the departure of the ship from St. Maarten.”
It also stated: “Celebrity Cruises has said that contact tracing is underway aboard “CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM” for close contacts of infected passengers. They also informed that all passengers will have to take an antigen test before the scheduled disembarkation of the ship in St. Maarten.
“On the other hand, MSC cruises started operations with simpler norms and had kept only COVID-19 testing mandatory before departure. MSC has informed that they have isolated the infected passengers along with their travelling companions and will be disembarked at the next port call in Sicily.
