Ferry disabled by fire, towed back to German port

Ferry HUCKLEBERRY FINN suffered a fire in the engine room early in the morning of August 16, 2023, in the Baltic Sea, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “Ferry HUCKLEBERRY FINN suffered a fire in engine room early in the morning August 16, 2023, in the Baltic sea, while en route from Travemunde to Trelleborg, Sweden, with some 130 people on board. “Crew managed to extinguish the fire by own means, but the ferry was disabled some 20 nm off Travemunde.”
It added: “MRCC Bremen was alerted, assistance was sent, and the ferry was towed back to Travemunde and berthed. No injuries reported.”
