The brand-new Royal Caribbean vessel, “Utopia of the Seas,” made its debut at a shipyard in France on September 16th, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “With a staggering 236,860 gross tons, this cruise ship will be the world’s second-largest cruise liner upon its scheduled launch in July 2024.
“Part of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class, this ship marks the sixth installment in the series. Setting it apart from its predecessors, “Utopia of the Seas” is designed for exclusive operation on natural gas.
“The first steel-cutting ceremony of the “Utopia of the Seas” was in April 2022. Construction commenced in July 2022, with the ship being pieced together from 74 distinct blocks pre-assembled by the shipyard, in the dry dock.
“As of now, the ship’s overall structure stands complete, with the shipyard transitioning to the interior outfitting phase. “Utopia of the Seas” is set to feature three 20 MW Azipods and will be powered by six engines producing a formidable 96,000 kW of power.
“Upon completion, the vessel is slated to offer an impressive 2,834 staterooms, accommodating a double passenger capacity of 5,668, and manned by a crew of 2,290. The ship’s amenities will include five swimming pools, an impressive array of 20 dining venues, and a diverse selection of 20 entertainment areas and bars, complete with two casinos.
“The “Utopia of the Seas” yields its title as the world’s largest cruise ship to the 250,800 gross ton “Icon of the Seas,” another Royal Caribbean ship that is slated for release in January 2024.”
