MARITIME: New LNG Bunker Vessel, Clean Everglades Christened by Seaside LNG
By Our Correspondent
A new LNG bunker barge, named “Clean Everglades,” was christened in a ceremony at the Fincantieri Bay shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The new vessel will expand Seaside LNG’s bunkering operations to the Gulf of Mexico.
“The “Clean Everglades” is an Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) measuring 340 feet in length, 66 feet in width, and boasting a depth of 32 feet 10 inches. It has a capacity to bunker 5,500 cubic meters of LNG; this is made possible by four IMO Type C tanks, each capable of storing 1,375 cubic meters of LNG. The vessel is equipped with a cutting-edge cargo handling system developed by Wärtsilä and also holds an Oceans Class ABS Barge classification.
“The “Clean Everglades” LNG bunker vessel is a sister ship to the “Clean Canaveral,” which is the largest Jones Act-compliant LNG bunker vessel. “Clean Canaveral” set sail approximately two years ago and has already successfully completed 65 bunkering operations.
“In addition to these two impressive bunker vessels, Seaside LNG has partnered with the Fincantieri Bay shipyard to commence the construction of another Jones Act-compliant LNG bunker vessel with a similar 5,500-cubic-meter capacity.
“The maritime sector’s increasing demand for LNG remains strong, as LNG vessel orders now account for over 30% of the industry’s fleet order book.”
