The “MSC VIVIENNE,” a 16,000 TEU containership, has been handed over to MSC by Dalian Shipbuilding, a China State Shipbuilding Corporation subsidiary, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “The vessel has a remarkable carrying capacity of 16,000 TEU and can effectively house up to 16,520 containers.
“The ship holds a Liberian registration and boasts dimensions of 366 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and a draft of 14.5 meters. Its primary propulsion is the Wärtsilä X92 low-speed electronically controlled two-stroke diesel engine, which incorporates a high-pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system. This advanced technology significantly diminishes NOx exhaust emissions, ensuring compliance with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and IMO Tier III emission regulations.
“Dalian Shipbuilding emphasizes the numerous energy-saving attributes integrated into the containership. Furthermore, it has received the LNG-ready class notation, signifying its adaptability for potential conversion to LNG propulsion. Noteworthy is the ship’s inclusion of a hybrid exhaust gas scrubber, even though it initially utilizes conventional fuel prior to any conversion. The vessel is additionally equipped with an air lubrication system and the capability to connect to shore power during port docking, effectively reducing emissions.
“This vessel constitutes the second of its class to be completed and delivered by Dalian Shipbuilding to MSC. The maiden ship, named “MSC CHIYO,” was officially delivered in June of the current year.”
