A Russian freighter with Iran-bound corn on board ran aground in the Volga – Caspian sea Canal on October 15, 2023, according to FleetMon.

It stated: “General cargo ship VOLGO-BALT 232 ran aground on 146 km mark in Volga – Caspian Sea Canal on Oct 15.

“The ship is en route from Astrakhan Russia, to Caspian port, Iran, with 3,000 tons of corn. No leak was reported. Understood tug already responding.”
