Basically, lack of basic utilities, especially power and water, has been identified as the major factor constraining development in Nigeria and other African countries. Specifically, with its huge population of more than 200 million persons, Nigeria’s power supply still hovers at less than 5,000 megawatts, MW, which is inadequate for constant supply to consumers, including households and companies. Also, the nation has not yet been able to meet its domestic water needs, due to limited investment and supply.
But much impact would be made in June this year as Vertex NEXT (a subsidiary of Vertex Global Services) and Asia’s greatest brand has concluded plans to set the agenda on the vital issues through two strategically co-located events – Power and Water Exhibition & Conference and IoT West Africa Conference & Exhibition – at Landmark Centre, Lagos, on June 21 – 23, 2022.
The events promise to make a positive impact, especially as top global brands – Eaton, Chint, Schlumberger, Jinko, Trina, IOT Africa Networks and Tranter IT Infrastructure Services Limited (Tranter IT), a Technology Solutions Provider serving the Public, Industrial, Commercial and Private sectors, have already indicated interest to participate.
Confirming its participation, Tranter IT, stated that, “We provide unified technological solutions to business problems, create value and improve revenue generation. We specialize in Industrial IoT (Internet of Things) and IoT Solutions, IT Solutions and Services, IT Infrastructure, Automation and Control.
“The IoT subsidiary of Tranter IT is IoT Africa Networks Limited which is an LPWAN Solution provider for IoT solutions applicable in virtually all use cases ranging from health administration, agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, utilities etc.”
IoT West Africa Conference and Exhibition 2022 is the avenue to hear from industry members, leaders and pioneers on history and current status of the different verticals within the IoT industry in West Africa.
At this event, Tranter IT will showcase her IOT Solutions including Fire and smoke detector monitoring, Indoor Air Quality, Motion Detector, Panic Button, Asset Tracking, Smart Water Metering, Oil Field Digitization, Power Consumption, Temperature & Humidity, Smart Survey, Tank level Monitoring, Weather Station, Smart Agriculture, Cold Chain Monitoring, Smart street Lighting and Smart transportation.
This event is an opportunity for fresh introduction to IoT or a consolidation of knowledge of development and current use cases of IoT in West Africa. We look forward to welcoming you to our booth where you can witness the wonders of IoT firsthand.”
Tranter IT and other brands do not only look up to participating, but sharing the latest insights and technology covering Energy Transition, Energy Efficiency, Smart Metering as well as Renewables and Solar Energy at the events.
According to Vertex NEXT, the events are important, especially as they are targeted at building capacity and introducing new technologies, applications and innovations as well as assisting to tackle critical issues and problems in Nigeria and other African nations.
“The Power and Water Nigeria Event is co-located with IoT West Africa Conference & Exhibition to address the needs that have been developed by IoT companies for Energy and Utilities. The co-location will tap into open analytics solution for energy and utility companies that include a wide range of capabilities to meet the current and future needs of providers.
“The IoT West Africa Conference and Exhibition further aim at enhancing operations in many sectors of the economy, including manufacturing (industrial) and electricity as Nigeria and other African nations struggle to provide adequate and stable power to their citizens.
“Generally, the two important events will enhance knowledge, present new technologies; bring about collaboration, partnering and alliancing, capable of not only enhancing development, but also taking businesses to the next level while delivering a significant bottom line to the organisers, especially as Nigeria remains Africa’s leading economy with about $1 trillion Gross Domestic Product, GDP.”
It had also noted that, “Digitization has been recognized as the global solution to problems in manufacturing, energy, finance, healthcare, and other sectors of the economy in many nations, including Nigeria, the fastest growing economy in Africa.
“While, the Internet of Things (IoT), a network of physical objects, embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet, has started to make a positive impact in the region.
“IoT is revolutionizing nearly every domain of the power industry from generation to transmission to distribution and changing how energy companies and customers interact. It is revolutionizing nearly every domain of the industry from generation to transmission to distribution and changing how energy companies and customers interact.
“IoT has the potential to significantly transform the industrial sector and IoT solutions are entering the domain of industrial operations. In the power sector, the IoT-based approach aids in manifesting proactive strategies into real-time gains.”
Commenting on the development, Chief Commercial Officer, Shitij Taneja, had also noted that, “With only 51 percent of the population having access to power in Nigeria, the lack of power has been the biggest obstacle for the country’s industrial growth. We aim to bridge the knowledge and solutions gap through productive exhibitions and content-rich conferences like, Power and Water along with IoT West Africa.
