The family of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has disclosed the burial arrangements for the late politician who passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 64.
Scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024, the interment will take place at the Ojougboh Family Compound in Agbor, Delta State. The funeral proceedings will commence with a Funeral Mass set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church along Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Agbor. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at the Open Ground, Opposite Central Hospital, Agbor.
Dr. Cairo Ojougboh was renowned for his contributions to the development of Delta State and the nation at large. Described as an illustrious son of Delta State, he was remembered as a fearless and outspoken politician who transcended tribal affiliations.
Known for his conscientiousness, amiability, and generosity, Ojougboh was committed to public service and the betterment of citizens’ lives.
Preceding the interment, several other activities have been lined up, including a Requiem Mass on Thursday, April 16, 2024, at the Church for The Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja, and a Vigil Mass on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State.
Additionally, a Christian Wake will be held on the same day, April 18, 2024, at the Ojougboh Family Compound, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State, between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.The burial ceremonies will culminate with a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State, starting at 9:00 a.m. Cairo Ojougboh represented the Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and was a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
He also served as a former Executive Director Project of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The family expressed their appreciation for the overwhelming love and support received during this challenging period.
