ELECTRICITY DISPUTE: NERC hears BEDC, Asaba Distribution Limited dispute January 19

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has concluded plans to commence a hearing on a dispute involving Benin Electricity Distribution Plc, BEDC, and Asaba Distribution Limited in Abuja.
According to NERC, “The petition filed by Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) against the application of Asaba Distribution Limited (ADL) for issuance of an independent electricity distribution network license (the application or IEDN) is set for hearing and determination by a panel of 3 Commissioners of the Commission”
In a statement obtained by The Daily, www.thedaily-ng.com, the Commission, stated: “In compliance with section 45 of EPSRA and section 17 of the Business Rules, the Commission has resolved that the petition/objection filed by BEDC against the grant of the application of ADL, shall be heard by a panel of 3 Commissioners as stipulated in section 17 (3) of the Business Rules.
“The petition shall be heard at the Commission’s Hearing Room on the 4th Floor of the NERC Headquarters Building, Plot 1387 Cadastral Zone A00, Central Business District, Abuja on 19 January 2021 by 10: 00 a.m.”
It added: “The conduct of the hearing shall be in accordance with the Business Rules of the Commission and further procedural rules relevant to the conduct of hearings as determined by the Commission.”
