…to present research at the IUPAC World Chemistry Congress

Dr Nnanake-Abasi Offiong, a Postdoctoral Researcher at International Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research (ICEESR), University of Uyo, Nigeria has been announced as one of the three global recipients of Water Travel Award 2021.

Water Award is an annual travel grant of 800 Swiss Francs given to emerging young investigators in the field of water science and engineering. The award is supported by the journal Water (Impact Factor = 2.5), published by Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) based in Basel, Switzerland.

Dr. Offiong will present his work entitled “Impacts of Climate Variability and Soil Erosion on Water Quality of a Humid Tropical River” at the IUPAC World Chemistry Congress.

Dr Offiong completed his PhD studies in August 2019 at the University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria under the supervision of Associate Professor Edu J. Inam.

Dr. Offiong’s current researches focus on the interactions of legacy/emerging organic pollutants in environmental matrices (water/soil/sediments) as well as preparation/utilisation of sustainable materials (valorised biomass and colloidal/surface active agents) for their remediation and other environmental/energy applications.

Other recipients include Dr. Tonni Agustiono Kurniawan, Postdoctoral Researcher at Polytechnic of Health (Indonesia) and Dr. Shawna Andrea Foo, Postdoctoral Researcher Scientist at Arizona State University.
